Making online payments from a smartphone has become commonplace. From neighbourhood grocery shops to shopping malls, people opt for online payment everywhere. The reason is clear: it is easy, and there is no hassle of loose change. Users sometimes also get rewards after paying.

So far, a smartphone and an internet connection have been the essentials for online payment. Now, users of keypad phones are also set to get digital payment facilities, which will make online payment easier still. The announcement has been made by Itel.

Itel has said that its feature phone, the Itel 2165C, will come with PhonePe support. Through this integration, users will be able to make digital payments even without an internet connection. An effort is also being made to take UPI-based payments to users on 2G networks.

The facility has been introduced for users who use keypad phones instead of smartphones. The company's aim is to connect 2G users to India's UPI-based digital payment system as well. The company says the objective is to take technology useful in everyday life to as many people as possible.

On the phone itself, the Itel 2165C is a feature phone with a 2-inch display and a 1,200mAh battery. To keep battery use in check, the company has also provided options such as "AI Battery" and "Super Battery Mode".

According to information provided by the company, the phone can give up to 11.67 hours of talk time and up to 25 days of standby time on a single charge. However, battery backup will depend on usage and network conditions. The phone also supports expandable storage of up to 32GB.
