Superstar Rajinikanth, known as "Thalaivar" in the South Indian film industry, continues to draw crowds at the box office. His film Jailer 2 has crossed the Rs 400 crore mark worldwide in just four days of release. Earnings jumped on Sunday, taking the film's total global collection to an estimated Rs 424.25 crore.
Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, the film has performed strongly in its first four days. According to SACNILC figures, it earned Rs 55.85 crore net in India on Sunday, taking its total net collection in India to Rs 199.90 crore.
The film's gross collection in India is estimated at Rs 234.25 crore. It has also done well at the overseas box office. Adding an estimated Rs 190 crore from there, the film's total worldwide earnings have reached Rs 424.25 crore.
On the earnings trend, the film made an estimated Rs 59.70 crore on its first day. Collections fell to Rs 37.10 crore on Friday, but picked up strongly again on Saturday and Sunday.
Sunday's earnings are said to have been 18.2 per cent higher than Saturday's. The film thus made a big leap in its first weekend. Because of Rajinikanth's popularity and audience anticipation, Jailer 2 appears to be getting a good response.
Jailer 2 has also set a mark overseas. A report found that it leads all Indian films released in 2026 in overseas earnings.
On its first day overseas, Jailer 2 earned an estimated Rs 57 crore, while Ranveer Singh's Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge earned about Rs 52 crore. The Rajinikanth film was thus ahead on first-day overseas earnings.
Meanwhile, it had been claimed that Ranveer Singh's Dhurandhar 2 broke the record of Baahubali 2 by earning more than 25 million dollars in North America. This has made the box office performance of the two films a topic of heated discussion.
After the global earnings of Rs 424.25 crore in four days, the film's course from here will matter. The film industry and fans are watching whether it can sustain this pace beyond the first week.
Given the response the film is getting because of Rajinikanth's stardom, reaching Rs 500 crore on the global box office is now being talked about as a target. The earnings in the coming days will, however, decide the film's path ahead.
