Rajinikanth's film 'Jailer 2' releases in theatres on 15 October, but tickets are already selling. Worldwide advance bookings for the first day have reached about Rs 30 crore.

A large part of this has come from overseas. Tickets worth Rs 20 crore have been sold in foreign markets alone, which shows Rajinikanth has a big following abroad as well as in India.

According to Sacnilk, total first-day pre-sale bookings stand at close to Rs 30 crore, with three days still left for the release. The response from overseas has surprised everyone. Fans are eager to see Tiger Muthuvel Pandian on the big screen once again. As bookings open at more theatres in India, the figure could cross Rs 40 crore.

'Jailer' was released in 2023 and broke box office records. The second part comes on the back of that success, and the excitement among audiences has doubled.

Bookings are brisk in India too. Advance bookings for the first day in the country stand at Rs 10.79 crore. A total of 4,843 shows have been scheduled across 771 theatres in 242 cities, and 5.69 lakh tickets have been sold so far.

Counting all three days, advance sales in India have reached Rs 16.56 crore. These figures cover only tickets sold online. Tickets that theatres have held back for themselves are not included.

Among states, Tamil Nadu has recorded the highest bookings, at Rs 6.34 crore. Kerala is second with Rs 2.63 crore and Karnataka third with Rs 1.22 crore, while Telangana has recorded bookings of Rs 47 lakh.

Among cities, Chennai tops the list with bookings of Rs 3.15 crore. Tickets worth Rs 1.17 crore have been sold in Bengaluru and Rs 58 lakh in Coimbatore.

Night shows are the most popular. Of the 1,610 night shows on the first day, 41 per cent have filled up. Morning shows are 40 per cent full, afternoon shows 28 per cent and evening shows 27 per cent. As many as 72 shows are already houseful, and 337 are close to full.

By language, the Tamil version leads. Tamil 2D has earned Rs 10.29 crore, while the Hindi and Telugu versions are lagging behind.

'Jailer 2' is directed by Nelson Dilipkumar and produced by Sun Pictures. The film releases worldwide on 15 October. Besides Rajinikanth, it features Ramya Krishnan, Yogi Babu, Mohanlal, Shivarajkumar, Vidya Balan and Mithun Chakraborty.
