Rahul Gandhi accuses CEC Gyanesh Kumar of wrecking poll machinery, names Modi and Shah

A row has broken out after differences between Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and the Election Commission's two other commissioners came out in the open. Commissioners Sukhbir Sandhu and Vivek Joshi had filed 14 written objections over the past 10 months relating to the Special Intensive Revision and the election process. These objections raised serious questions about additions and deletions of names in the voter list as well as changes to the commission's working methods. But Gyanesh Kumar set aside both commissioners' objections and went ahead with his own decisions. Amid the row, Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, called a press conference to target the commission.

Rahul Gandhi asked how the BJP wins every election despite anti-incumbency. He said there have been continuous attacks on the Constitution and that voting was rigged in the Lok Sabha and state assembly elections. Gandhi said this had affected the elections in Maharashtra, Haryana and Madhya Pradesh. He asked why anti-incumbency never affects the BJP and how the party keeps winning election after election.

Rahul Gandhi alleged that Gyanesh Kumar was selected by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, and that Gyanesh Kumar has manipulated every election. According to him, anti-incumbency is a reality of Indian politics, and vote theft violates the rights of every Indian.

Rahul Gandhi further said the BJP's wins have been exposed and evidence of vote theft is emerging. He said the two election commissioners had themselves exposed Gyanesh Kumar. Gandhi also said vote theft had taken place in 2024 as well, and that Gyanesh Kumar is responsible for wrecking the election system. He said Gyanesh Kumar has devastated the election machinery and that this amounts to an attack on the Constitution.

Making a bigger allegation, Rahul Gandhi said he had no doubt that Narendra Modi and Amit Shah were the masterminds behind this conspiracy. He said Prime Minister Modi and Amit Shah were behind the entire plot. Rahul Gandhi said Narendra Modi and Amit Shah had attacked democracy and tried to destroy it.
