A passenger was killed and two workers were seriously injured in an accident involving an Ertiga car on the Mumbai-Goa highway, within the limits of Kemburli village in Mahad taluka, on Wednesday. The driver lost control of the car, which veered off and rammed into a field beside the highway.

According to the information available, the occupants of the Ertiga were travelling from the Konkan towards Mumbai. As the car reached Kemburli village, the driver suddenly lost control of the vehicle. The car then went out of control and crashed into a field next to the highway.

The impact was so strong that the car was badly damaged. One passenger in the car died on the spot. Two workers who were working on the highway were also hit by the car and seriously injured.

The agencies concerned reached the spot on receiving news of the accident. Both injured workers were immediately admitted to the trauma care unit in Mahad, where they are undergoing treatment. Traffic on the Mumbai-Goa highway was affected for a short while because of the accident. The agencies concerned took the necessary action at the spot. Further investigation into the accident is under way.
