The Nagpur crime branch has solved the robbery at Dhomne Jewellers on Hingna Road, under the MIDC police station limits. Jewellery worth about Rs 40 lakh was looted from the shop. Four accused have been arrested from Bareilly, Noida and Meerut in Uttar Pradesh. Police Commissioner Vishwas Nangare Patil announced the action at a press conference on October 14.

According to police, the incident took place on October 3, 2026, between about 4.40 pm and 4.55 pm. Dhomne Jewellers is located opposite Mahakali Bar on Hingna Road. At the time, Shubham Khemraj Hadge, an employee of shop owner Rakesh Subhash Dhomne, was in the shop when four accused walked in. They threatened him with something resembling a gun and threatened to kill him.

The accused are alleged to have beaten Shubham as well. They then fled with gold and silver jewellery weighing about 350 grams. The value of the looted jewellery is estimated at Rs 40 lakh.

MIDC police had registered a case under Sections 309(4) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

Treating the crime as serious, MIDC police and the crime branch began a joint investigation. Between 300 and 400 CCTV footage clips from the spot and surrounding area were examined. The accused's movements, escape routes and technical evidence were also analysed. Police also used artificial intelligence technology in the work.

When it emerged that the accused were in Uttar Pradesh, special teams were sent there. With the help of local police, a covert search went on for four days and the accused were traced.

Police first took Abhishek Singh Thakur into custody from Bareilly. On information obtained from him, Jairam alias Jogindar Ashok Singh Thakur (19) and Shubhankit Nileshkumar Chaturvedi (22) were arrested from Noida. Rajan Sami Sharma (29) was arrested from Meerut.

Police have also seized the Fortuner car, registration number MH-49-B-9192, used in the crime. The investigation is now on to recover the looted jewellery and trace the remaining members of the gang. Police are also examining the exact role of each arrested accused in the incident and whether they were involved in other crimes.

The action was carried out under the guidance of Police Commissioner Vishwas Nangare Patil, Joint Commissioner of Police Navinchandra Reddy, Additional Commissioner of Police Rajendra Dabhade, Deputy Commissioner of Police Deepak Agrawal and Assistant Commissioner of Police Vaibhav Jadhav. Crime branch Police Inspector Shubhangi Deshmukh and the officers and staff concerned were part of the investigation.

The arrest of the four accused is being seen as a major success for the police. However, recovery of the looted jewellery and the search for the remaining associates are key challenges for the further investigation.
