Amravati naib tehsildar Sunil Rathod arrested red-handed taking Rs 20,000 bribe

The Anti-Corruption Bureau caught Naib Tehsildar Sunil Rathod accepting a Rs 20,000 bribe for a revenue department task, and has begun proceedings to register a case against him.

Amravati: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has once again acted against those who demand bribes from citizens for government work. A team of the Amravati ACB laid a trap and arrested Naib Tehsildar Sunil Rathod red-handed while he was accepting a bribe of Rs 20,000. The action has caused a stir in revenue circles and the administration.

According to preliminary information, Rathod had demanded a bribe for approving or completing a revenue department matter of the complainant. The complainant had no wish to pay a bribe, and promptly approached the Anti-Corruption Bureau in Amravati and lodged a formal complaint.

After receiving the complaint, the ACB team covertly verified the demand over two to three days. The verification established that Rathod had demanded a bribe of Rs 20,000 from the complainant for doing the government work.

Once the demand was established, the ACB team laid a carefully planned trap. As arranged, the complainant went to Rathod with the Rs 20,000 bribe amount. As soon as Rathod accepted the money, the ACB team, which had been keeping watch, raided the spot and took him into custody red-handed.

After the action, the ACB team seized the bribe amount. Proceedings have been initiated to register a case against the accused Naib Tehsildar Sunil Rathod under the Prevention of Corruption Act at the concerned police station.

The ACB team is also investigating the accused's residence and other properties. The action was carried out under the guidance of senior officers of the Amravati Anti-Corruption Bureau.

Meanwhile, the administration has appealed to citizens that if any officer or employee demands a bribe for any government work, they should not be afraid and should contact the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB).
