An accused produced before a court in Arvi, Wardha district, threw his slippers in the direction of the judge on Thursday, and police have registered a case against him.

Panic broke out inside a court in Arvi, in Wardha district, on Thursday when an accused brought for a hearing suddenly threw a slipper in the direction of the judge. The incident took place between about 4 pm and 5 pm in Court No. 2 at Arvi.

Shailesh Ambulkar, joint superintendent of the Arvi court, has filed a police complaint. On the basis of it, Arvi police have registered a case against the accused, Kadir Ali Razzak Ali. Kadir Ali is 44 years old and a resident of Kakaddhara.

According to the information available, Talegaon police had produced Kadir Ali on Thursday afternoon before Judge N. J. Deshmukh in Court No. 2 at Arvi. Sub-inspector Dhanashri Sagane of Talegaon Shyamjipant police station and police personnel Shrikant Naikwade and Atul Adsad were also present.

The judge asked the accused his name, and he gave it. One or two more questions were then put to him. The accused then took a piece of paper out of his pocket and dropped it. He bent down to pick it up and suddenly pulled off a slipper and threw it in the direction of the judge.

The slipper hit public prosecutor K. V. Verulkar, who was present. As police were trying to catch the accused, he threw the other slipper the same way, towards the dais. It struck a fan and fell on the chair of a court employee. The courtroom was thrown into commotion. The police present took the accused into custody.

The accused had figured in an earlier incident as well. On October 21, police had taken him to the primary health centre at Talegaon Shyamjipant for a medical examination. He is reported to have slapped a woman doctor there. The whole incident was captured on CCTV.

The talk over that incident had barely died down when the slipper-throwing case came up at the Arvi court. Both times the accused behaved this way in the presence of police, and several questions are now being raised.
