Police in Mul town of Chandrapur district have registered four separate cases for playing DJ music at high volume during the Sharada and Durga idol immersion processions. The processions were held in the town on October 24. During patrolling, police checked the noise with a sound level meter and found that the volume of several DJ systems exceeded the prescribed limit.

Cases have been registered against the presidents of four mandals and the concerned DJ operators under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Maharashtra Police Act. The case was filed on the complaint of a police constable working in the confidential section of the police station, invoking Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Sections 38 and 136 of the Maharashtra Police Act, 1951. The checks were carried out on the evening and night of October 24, 2026, while the processions were under way.

The first action was taken between Mahatma Phule Chowk and Gandhi Chowk. In the procession of the Parmewari Durga Mandal, MG Power DJ, Payal Dhumal and Blaster DJ were being played on a tractor and a pickup truck. Their volume was measured at 102.5 decibels, 112.8 decibels and 98.02 decibels respectively. Despite repeated instructions from police, the DJ owners and operators did not lower the volume. A case was therefore registered at Mul police station against the mandal's president, Pravin Murlidhar Khanorkar, and DJ operators Pankaj Ganpat Naitam, Umesh Mahadevji Hunde and Rohit Vijay Jumde.

The second action was at Nag Mandir Chowk in Ward No. 16. In the procession of the Nag Ganesh Sharada Mahila Mandal, a DJ named VIP Plus 77 was being played very loudly on a Bolero pickup vehicle. Its volume was found to be 98.46 decibels during the check. The operator ignored the request to lower the volume. A case was registered against the mandal's president, Vaishali Sachin Ghugare, and DJ operator Yash Vishwas BollIwar.

The third incident took place near Ambedkar Chowk on Tadala Road. The patrol team found "Saibaba DJ" playing at 94.39 decibels on a Tata Yodha pickup in the procession of the Saraswati Sharada Mahila Mandal. Police personnel asked for the volume to be reduced, but operator Sujit Sharad Reddiwar paid no attention. A case was registered at Mul police station against the mandal's president, Pullabai Vishnu Walkonde, and operator Sujit Sharad Reddiwar.

The fourth action was near Mahatma Phule Chowk. In the procession of the Sarvajanik Mahila Mandal, Ward No. 1, "Ganraya DJ" was set up on a Tata 1110 mini truck at 94.40 decibels. Even after police gave instructions, DJ operator Manish Ashok Khobragade did not lower the volume. A case was therefore registered against the mandal's president, Nandini Ganesh Ramshettiwar, and operator Manish Ashok Khobragade.

The processions drew very large crowds, and police did not seize the DJ equipment on the spot so that no law-and-order problem would arise. After the processions ended, however, the DJ vehicles and operators fled for fear of action. The strict action by police has caused a stir in the town. Mul police have so far taken the most action in the district against DJs causing noise pollution.
