An assault on a man has come to light from Pombhurna taluka, where the incident took place on the night of October 18, 2026. Two men are accused of beating and injuring him as he was returning from a terahvi, the ritual observed on the thirteenth day after a death. A case has been registered against both under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, at Pombhurna police station.

According to the police, the complainant, Mangesh Prabhakar Channawar, is 43. He is originally from Tadala, Tukum, in Mul taluka of Chandrapur district, and currently lives in Pombhurna. For the past two years he has been staying at the house of Minabai Suramwar in Pombhurna.

At about 8.30 pm on October 18, 2026, a terahvi ceremony was being held in Pombhurna for the mother of Rupesh Channawar. Mangesh Channawar had gone to the ceremony. After it ended, at about 9 pm, he left Rupesh Channawar's house and was walking towards the Pombhurna bus stop via Mashid Road.

According to the police, the accused, Ankush Sanjay Bolamwar, a resident of Pombhurna, and Yuvraj Ghosekar, a resident of Mul in Chandrapur district, then suddenly brought their car to a halt beside Mangesh. It is alleged that as soon as they got out of the car, the two began threatening Mangesh, saying "Ruk be saale, kahan ja raha hai?" ("Stop, you wretch, where are you going?").

According to the allegation, Ankush Bolamwar took a wooden stick from the car and struck Mangesh hard on the head. He suffered a serious head injury and began bleeding. It is also alleged that the other accused, Yuvraj Ghosekar, throttled Mangesh and slammed him hard against a compound wall by the roadside.

Shaken by the sudden attack, the complainant held the accused by their feet. The accused then fled the spot.

After the incident, Mangesh Channawar went straight to Pombhurna police station and narrated what had happened. The police took him to the rural hospital in Pombhurna for treatment. After the treatment was completed, his oral complaint was recorded.

The case has been registered at Pombhurna police station under sections 118(1), 3(5) and 352 of the BNS 2023. Police constable Ankush Mandade is conducting further investigation.
