Amid growing demand for SUVs in the country, Maruti Suzuki has posted a strong sales figure for the first half of financial year 2027. The company's six SUV models, the Fronx, Brezza, Victoris, Grand Vitara, e Vitara and Jimny, together sold 3,21,111 units. In the same period of the previous financial year the figure was 2,05,727 units, a year-on-year rise of 56.09% in SUV sales. The Fronx and the Victoris accounted for the largest share of the growth.
The Fronx retained the top spot in the company's SUV list, selling 1,10,135 units in the first six months. In the same period last year it sold 76,805 units, an increase of 43.39%.
The Brezza came second with 80,516 units. Its sales fell 5.17% from 84,902 units a year earlier. The decline came even after its recent update.
The sharpest jump in the period was for the Victoris, whose sales rose from 4,282 units to 72,012 units, an increase of 1,581.78%. The 5-seater SUV was launched in September 2025 and had a full half-year of sales this time, which shaped the figure. The Victoris also overtook the Grand Vitara, which sold 45,176 units, 22.12% more than the 36,993 units of last year.
The e Vitara is the company's first fully electric SUV. It sold 10,051 units in the first half of FY2027. The company claims a range of more than 500 km for the electric SUV. With demand for electric vehicles rising, attention is on this model.
The Jimny sold 3,221 units against 2,745 last year, a rise of 17.34%. Overall, the Fronx and the Victoris have given the company's SUV sales major momentum. How the e Vitara performs in the electric SUV segment will be worth watching.
