The September instalment of the Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana has been credited to the bank accounts of eligible women beneficiaries. The money arriving before Diwali has brought relief to the women covered by the scheme.

According to information from Mumbai, the state government is giving women Rs 1,500 every month under the scheme. The scheme is also drawing a good response. The Mahayuti government launched it before the Assembly elections.

Around Diwali, women across the state had been waiting to know when the next instalment would arrive. The government has now distributed the September amount.

When the scheme was announced, eligible women were promised Rs 1,500 a month. The government had also spoken of raising the amount to Rs 2,100 later. For now, however, women continue to receive Rs 1,500.

The scheme is believed to have given the Mahayuti a major political advantage in the Assembly elections. Opponents, meanwhile, have criticised it, saying its cost is adding to the financial burden on the state exchequer.

There was talk at one point that the scheme would be discontinued, after which the government clarified that it would continue. Meanwhile, a verification of beneficiaries is under way, and applications of ineligible women have been cancelled.

Women who have not completed the required KYC process may face difficulty in receiving the benefit. Eligible women should therefore confirm that their details are in order and that the KYC process is complete.

The scheme runs in Maharashtra and provides eligible women financial assistance of Rs 1,500 a month. The September instalment has now been deposited.
