Political Dussehra rallies are being held across the state on the occasion of Dussehra. As part of this, Maratha activist Manoj Jarange Patil's Dussehra rally was held today at Narayangad in Beed district. There, he targeted the government over Maratha reservation, drought-like conditions in the state and the problems of farmers. Raising the issue of farmers' economic condition, he placed five main demands before the government.

Jarange Patil also warned the government. He made it clear that the Maratha community would respond in the 2029 election. He appealed that leaders who ignore the community's concerns should not be supported in the 2029 election.

Jarange Patil said that in the past three years he has not gone to any leader on his own to speak to them. Addressing political leaders, he said the interest of the community matters more than affection for parties and leaders. His point was that Maratha community members stand with leaders, but leaders too should attend to the community's difficulties.

On farmers, Jarange Patil said the state's farmers are in distress, and he sought assistance of Rs 1 lakh per hectare from the government. In his speech he said the shadow of drought, crop losses and a growing financial burden were creating major difficulties for farmers. He also worked out that even if farmers were given Rs 5,000 in assistance, a large part of it would go on travel, petrol and other expenses. He therefore said farmers must receive full financial assistance.

Jarange Patil's five demands are as follows. Farmers should be given assistance of Rs 1 lakh per hectare. Farmers' loans should be waived in full. The full crop insurance amount should be deposited in farmers' accounts. Pending agricultural subsidies should be released. And fodder camps should be started in village after village.

Jarange also expressed displeasure over the implementation of Maratha reservation. He raised the issue that even after Kunbi records have been found, applications are not being accepted in some places and there are difficulties in getting certificates. He also warned that the role of the officials concerned would be investigated.

Jarange Patil also said that nobody needs to pay money to meet him. He warned those who ask for money in his name. He said that if he got information of such a thing, he would not spare the people concerned.

Attention now turns to how the government responds to these demands of farmers, and what further steps are taken on the question of Maratha reservation.
