The Indian women's team won the third and final ODI of the series in Vadodara by eight wickets, completing a 3-0 clean sweep of Zimbabwe. Spinner Vaishnavi Sharma was the star of the match, taking five wickets to bundle Zimbabwe out for just 131.
Zimbabwe won the toss and chose to bat first. But apart from opener Modester Mupachikwa (37) and captain Josephine Nkomo (35), none of their batters could stay at the crease. Vaishnavi Sharma did not let them play freely.
Sayali Satghare gave India the first breakthrough, dismissing Loryn Phiri without her opening her account. Kranti Goud then had the aggressive Chipo Tiripano (4) caught by Shafali, leaving Zimbabwe at 12 for 2.
Beloved Biza (1) was then Vaishnavi Sharma's first victim. Mupachikwa hit seven fours and held her ground, but Vaishnavi did not let her get too aggressive. Chedza Dhururu (20) tried to steady the innings with Nkomo for a while, but Vaishnavi had her caught by Jintimani Kalita as well.
Michelle Mavunga (6) and Nyasha Gwanzuru (10) also fell to Vaishnavi. Gwanzuru was her fifth wicket. Vaishnavi took five wickets for 39 runs in 10 overs. Kranti Goud and Sayali Satghare took two wickets each.
Chasing 132, India lost a wicket on the very first ball, as Yastika Bhatia was out for a duck to Nomvelo Sibanda. Pratika Rawal (59 not out) and Harleen Deol then steadied the innings. Harleen made 19 before falling to Loryn Phiri.
Shafali Verma, coming in at number four, began batting aggressively straight away. Pratika hit four fours and three sixes in her innings, while Shafali remained unbeaten on 51 with six fours and two sixes. India's batters did not let the match drag on and won the third game with 33 overs to spare.
