The debutant-style spell was her first five-wicket haul in ODIs; India need 132 to complete a 3-0 sweep of Zimbabwe, having already won the series.
The Indian women's cricket team bowled Zimbabwe out for just 131 in the third and final ODI of the series. India now need 132 runs to win. If the team wins this match, Zimbabwe will be swept 3-0. Vaishnavi Sharma took five wickets for India, the first five-wicket haul of her ODI career, and troubled the Zimbabwe batters throughout.
Zimbabwe won the toss and chose to bat first. Apart from opener Modester Mupachikwa (37) and captain Josephine Nkomo (35), none of their batters could play well. Vaishnavi Sharma did not let them play freely.
Early on, Sayali Satghare gave Zimbabwe the first blow by dismissing Loryn Phiri without her opening her account. Kranti Goud then had the aggressive Chipo Tiripano (4) caught by Shafali, which left Zimbabwe at 12 for 2.
Bilwad Bizha (1) then became Vaishnavi Sharma's first victim. Modester hit seven fours and stayed at the crease, but Vaishnavi did not let her become too aggressive. Chedza Dhururu (20) tried for a while to steady the innings with Nkomo, but Vaishnavi had her caught by Jintamani Kalita as well.
Michelle Muwanga (6) was Vaishnavi's fourth victim, while Naisha Gwanjuru (10) was her fifth. Vaishnavi took five wickets for 39 runs in 10 overs. Kranti Goud and Sayali Satghare took two wickets each, and Deepti Sharma took one.
India have already won the series. They won the first match, played in Vadodara, by nine wickets, and the second by 121 runs. By beating Zimbabwe in the third match, the Indian team now has a good chance of a clean sweep.
