Pakistan pacer Haris Rauf was also given a demerit point for breaching the ICC code of conduct during the tri-series ODI against England on October 25.
The ICC has taken action against Pakistan fast bowler Haris Rauf. Twenty per cent of his match fee has been deducted for his clash with Will Jacks in the match against England. The ICC has treated it as a Level 1 breach of the code of conduct.
An exciting match of the tri-nation ODI series was played between Pakistan and England on October 25. At one point during the game, Rauf and England's Will Jacks got into an argument. The ICC has found Rauf guilty over that incident.
According to the ICC, Rauf breached Article 2.2 of the code of conduct, which deals with the conduct of players and support staff. Along with the fine, one demerit point has been added to his record. It is his third offence in the last 24 months, and takes his total number of offences to five.
The incident took place in the 46th over of Pakistan's innings, when Rauf was standing at the non-striker's end. He appealed for a wide. An argument with England all-rounder Will Jacks followed. Umpire Sharfuddoula Ibne Shahid warned him with a gesture, but Rauf raised his bat and continued the argument. He then moved away from the umpire and towards Jacks. For this conduct, 20 per cent was deducted from his match fee and a demerit point was awarded.
England also committed a major lapse in the match and were fined part of their match fee. Article 2.22 of the code says that if a team fails to complete its overs in the allotted time, a fine is imposed for each over. England were three overs behind the allotted time and were fined 15 per cent. England captain Harry Brook accepted the lapse, so no hearing will be held in the matter.
Pakistan won the match. Batting first, England set Pakistan a target of 242. In reply, Pakistan had lost 9 wickets for 154 runs, and an England win looked certain. But Shadab Khan played a superb innings, scoring an unbeaten 113 and taking Pakistan to victory with just one wicket remaining.
