Police took 170 actions under the Motor Vehicles Act in a special drive in Hinganghat on November 2, part of a Wardha district road safety campaign.

A special drive was held in Hinganghat on November 2, 2026, as part of the "Mission Zero Accident, Wardha District" campaign being run in Wardha district to prevent road accidents.

The campaign is being run under the orders and guidance of Superintendent of Police Saurabh Kumar Agrawal and Additional Superintendent of Police Sadashiv Waghmare. Hingangh at police station officer Anil Raut, Wardha district traffic control branch in-charge Assistant Police Inspector Vijaykumar Ghule and police personnel took part.

During the drive, members of the public and drivers were told how to avoid accidents. They were asked to keep their vehicles in good condition, wear helmets and seatbelts, stay within speed limits, not use mobile phones while driving and not drive after drinking. They were also urged to keep vehicle documents up to date and not to give vehicles to minors.

People were also asked not to park vehicles on public roads or in no-parking zones, to give way to ambulances and emergency vehicles, and to maintain traffic discipline.

Police said the drive is not limited to issuing fines. Its aim is to curb violations, prevent accidents and bring discipline to traffic for the safety of people.

A total of 170 actions were taken under the Motor Vehicles Act against drivers who violated traffic rules during the drive.

The traffic branch said action against violators will continue as per rules. People were urged to come forward and follow traffic rules and to help keep traffic safe and smooth. The message is clear: follow traffic rules, avoid accidents and travel safely.

Police said action under the Motor Vehicles Act is not meant to collect fines but to instil discipline in drivers and make travel safe for all citizens. Citizens' safety is the first priority. When young children drive without a licence, accidents happen and their future is badly affected. Protecting them from this and safeguarding lives is described as the main aim of the Mission Zero Accident, Wardha District campaign.

The mission will be run effectively across the district going forward. The Wardha district traffic police department has appealed to all people in the district to follow traffic rules while driving.
