Police took 170 actions under the Motor Vehicles Act in Hinganghat on Monday, saying the drive is meant to prevent accidents and not merely to collect fines.
A special drive was held in Hinganghat on 2 November 2026 as part of the "Mission Zero Accident, Wardha District Campaign" being run in Wardha district.
The campaign is being run under the orders and guidance of Superintendent of Police Saurabh Kumar Agrawal and Additional Superintendent of Police Sadashiv Waghmare. Anil Raut, station house officer of Hinganghat police station, and Assistant Police Inspector Vijaykumar Ghule, who heads the Wardha district traffic control branch, along with police personnel, took part.
During the drive, the public and motorists were told what to do to avoid accidents. They were asked to keep their vehicles in good condition, wear helmets and seatbelts, and observe speed limits. They were also told not to use mobile phones while driving, not to drive after drinking, to keep vehicle documents up to date and not to let minors drive.
People were also urged not to park vehicles on public roads or in no-parking zones, to give way to ambulances and emergency vehicles, and to maintain traffic discipline.
Police said the drive is not limited to collecting fines. Its aim is to curb violations, prevent accidents before they happen and bring discipline to traffic for people's safety.
A total of 170 actions were taken under the Motor Vehicles Act against drivers who broke traffic rules during the drive.
Action against violators will continue as per rules. The traffic branch appealed to people to follow traffic rules voluntarily and help keep traffic safe and smooth. The message is: follow the rules, avoid accidents and travel safe.
Police made it clear that action under the Motor Vehicles Act is not meant to collect fines. The purpose is to teach drivers discipline and make travel safe for all citizens, with citizens' safety being put first. When young children drive without a licence, accidents occur and their future suffers. Protecting them from this and safeguarding lives is the main objective of the Zero Accident Mission Wardha District Campaign.
The mission will be run effectively across the district. The Wardha district traffic police department has appealed to all citizens of the district to follow traffic rules while driving.
