Police in Wardha district are running a road safety campaign called Jeevan Suraksha Abhiyan, under the orders and guidance of Wardha Superintendent of Police Saurabhkumar Agrawal and Additional Superintendent of Police Sadashiv Waghmare. As part of it, a special drive was carried out in Hinganghat town on 01/10/2026.

The drive took place in the presence of Hinganghat Sub-Divisional Police Officer Sushilkumar Naik. The aim was to keep the town's traffic smooth, ensure the safety of motorists and pedestrians, and prevent accidents.

Police acted against vehicles parked in places where they obstruct the road. Action was also taken under the Motor Vehicles Act against people driving without a licence, riding three on a two-wheeler, using vehicles with loud silencers, not carrying their licence, and using fancy number plates.

In all, 308 challan cases were booked against traffic violators and fines of Rs 5,87,500 were imposed. Two FIRs were registered under Section 199(A) of the Motor Vehicles Act against parents who gave vehicles to minors to drive. Four drivers were booked in drunk-driving cases and all four vehicles were detained.

They asked people not to park on busy roads, not to park in an unauthorised manner in public places, on roads and in crowded areas, and to park vehicles only in designated parking spaces. Further appeals are not to drive without a licence, to wear a helmet while riding a two-wheeler on highways, for four-wheeler drivers to wear seatbelts, and not to ride three on a two-wheeler or drive vehicles with loud silencers.

Police said the action under the Motor Vehicles Act is not meant to collect fines.
