Google is preparing to take artificial intelligence in gaming to a new level. The company has launched a new platform called Playground in partnership with Unity. With its help, users will be able to create video games simply by writing text prompts. The need for coding or lengthy development to make a game could now shrink.

The aim of the technology is to put game-making within the reach of as many people as possible. For now, only users aged 18 and above will be able to use it.

On Playground, users can create games by giving text prompts in everyday language, and can also make changes to them. Notably, no knowledge of coding is required. The user only has to write the idea for the game in the prompt, and the platform will build the game on that basis.

The platform will use Google's AI models along with other advanced AI technologies and the company's existing technology. A game that has been created can also be published on Google Playground, where other users can download and play it.

Unity Spark will also be added to Playground later. Preparations have begun to integrate it with the platform by the end of 2026. According to Unity, it will help create more advanced game mechanics and high-quality 3D experiences.

In Unity Spark, some assets will be generated by AI, while most of the images and effects will be drawn from Unity's existing library. The company has said that the human artists who created these assets will be credited and paid. Both Playground and Spark will offer two kinds of options depending on usage: free and paid.

Playground is part of Google's effort in which the company is focusing more on world models technology. This AI can build virtual worlds from text prompts, and it is not limited to understanding language. Google launched its world model Genie 3 last year. In January, the company also presented a prototype capable of creating virtual worlds and characters through Genie.
