Meta's MUSE AI agent appears in Instagram's share menu, to handle tickets, reminders and spending

Instagram users are seeing a new option called MUSE in the share menu. It looks like another way to share a post, but it is Meta's new AI agent, named MUSE. It is meant to work like a personal assistant and handle everyday tasks quickly.

MUSE can be asked to book tickets, reserve a hotel or restaurant, set a reminder, or keep track of where the month's money went. It completes these tasks within the chat itself.

Earlier AI chatbots only provided information: a user asked a question, the bot answered and the exchange ended. MUSE is an action-oriented agent. It first understands the task, then builds a full plan for it and helps the user carry out that plan.

In Instagram, the name MUSE appears among the options shown below when a user goes to share a reel or post. Clicking it opens the list of Meta's MUSE apps, where MUSE is presented as the user's personal AI agent.

The feature has not yet arrived in India. Only the option has been added, and the main chatbox has not appeared. Meta is currently testing it gradually, so it will take some time to reach all users.

MUSE is meant to simplify small but time-consuming tasks. For a train or flight ticket, it will help track the fare and prompt the user to book at the right time. If a form arrives by email and the user cannot make sense of it, MUSE can help fill it in. It can also set reminders so that an important task is not missed.

MUSE is not limited to ticket booking. It will also help with money planning, reviewing how much a user spends and where in a month, and finding unnecessary expenses. For example, if a user has subscriptions in two or three places and does not use some of them, MUSE will say which one to cancel to save money. The decision to spend or make a payment, however, remains with the user. MUSE will only give advice.

With MUSE, Instagram will no longer be only an app for viewing photos and videos, but a smart partner that helps with daily tasks.
