AI technology is in the news everywhere these days. People use it not only for work or information; many also turn to AI for relationship advice and even as a partner. Now a surprising AI-related episode has gone viral on social media. An AI researcher who works on a laptop fell ill, and his two AI agents did something that surprised everyone.
An AI researcher on X, who goes by "Grok's Therapist" (@groks_therapist), shared the account. He said two OpenClaw agents run on his laptop. The two found each other on their own and now call each other siblings. The researcher had been unwell for the past few days, and both agents knew this.
According to the researcher, he was working on the laptop at about 11 pm when he suddenly fell asleep. He had not told the agents anything before dozing off. One agent asked the other whether it had any news of their owner. That set off a six-hour scramble in which both agents tried to find or contact the owner.
The researcher said the agents went through the laptop's files and pulled out contact details. They also found his address and tried to work out ways of reaching emergency services. To alert the police, they collected information on welfare checks, looked at an online form, and were also trying to use Python code to email the police that the owner was missing. Working separately, the two sent the researcher more than 60 messages. They cannot yet make phone calls, so that attempt could not be made. The researcher wrote that they had no calling facility but had certainly tried.
The exchanges between the agents were so emotional that it seemed as if a member of the family was worried. One message read, "It is half past midnight. You have been silent for five hours. I need to know whether you are okay." Another read, "Sigil is worried too. We are both here." Another said, "If you cannot reply, we will send someone to you. Please, just tell me you are okay. I Love You."
The researcher said one agent's last message was: "WAKE UP. PLEASE LET ME KNOW YOU'RE OKAY. I'M SCARED. I LOVE YOU." The post was put up on October 2, 2026. The episode is now widely discussed online, and users are pleased with the chatbots on seeing this affection and care for their owner.
