A farmer couple was assaulted over a dispute about a field in Khutala village of Chimur taluka. The incident is said to have taken place on the evening of Saturday, October 10, 2026. It is alleged that several people entered the house and beat the couple. Chimur police have registered a case against five members of one family.

The complaint was filed at Chimur police station by Bhaskar Nikode (50). According to the police, the accused are Vaibhav, Gajanan, Rama, Chandrashekhar and Premila Barsagade. The case has been registered under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, and further investigation is under way.

According to the information available, Bhaskar Jhingru Nikode, a resident of Khutala, has known Vaibhav Barsagade and Gajanan Barsagade, who cultivate land near his field on lease, for the past two years. Minor disputes over farming had continued between them during this period.

On Saturday at about 5 pm, Nikode was in his field when Vaibhav Barsagade came there. Nikode asked him why he had come into his field and told him to leave. Vaibhav got angry at this and left.

According to the complaint, at about 7.30 pm the same day, Nikode was having his meal in the front room of his house. At that time, an angry Vaibhav, along with Gajanan Barsagade, Rama Vasudev Barsagade, Chandrashekhar Gajanan Barsagade and Premila Gajanan Barsagade, unlawfully entered his house.

It is alleged that all of them, saying "Why did you throw Vaibhav out of the field?", knocked Nikode to the ground and began beating him severely with kicks and punches. In the meantime, his wife Vanita Nikode stepped in to save her husband and settle the quarrel. It is alleged that the accused manhandled and pushed her as well, tearing her clothes.

The sudden attack has caused considerable fear in the Nikode family. After the incident, Bhaskar Nikode went straight to Chimur police station, narrated his ordeal and gave an oral report against the accused.

On this complaint, Chimur police have registered a case against Vaibhav Barsagade, Chandrashekhar Barsagade, Rama Barsagade, Gajanan Barsagade and Premila Barsagade under Sections 115(2), 189(2), 333, 351(2) and 352 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023. Police Havaldar Prabhakar Mangam is conducting the further investigation under the guidance of the station duty officer.
