Concern has been raised over the unchecked sale of narcotics in Dattanagar, in the Ayre Road area of Dombivli East. Because drugs are easily available in the area, minors are falling into addiction, residents fear.

Vishwas Gaikwad, who lives in the area, has claimed that his two sons have become addicted to drugs. So that other children do not meet the fate of his own, Gaikwad has approached the police.

According to Gaikwad, his minor son had fallen into drug addiction. After taking an excess, the boy's condition became extremely serious and he remained unconscious for 18 hours. Gaikwad said doctors' treatment saved his life. The whole family is in deep mental shock. Gaikwad says the boy's elder brother has also become addicted. Seeing the future of both sons at risk, he decided to speak out against the alleged drug sales in the area.

Gaikwad has alleged that drugs are being sold openly in the Dattanagar and Ayre Road areas. He claims even minors are being supplied narcotics. He said his son has given the police details of where the drugs are brought from, who sells them and at which places this goes on.

Despite this, Gaikwad alleges that he has complained repeatedly at the police station but no concrete action has been taken against the sellers. He said he has been going to the police station for many days without getting the response he expected, and expressed anger over this.

Seeing the condition of his sons, Gaikwad has begun warning other parents as well. Speaking emotionally, he said, "What happened to my children should not happen to the children of any other parents."

Complaints of narcotics being sold near schools and colleges in the Kalyan-Dombivli area have come in earlier too. Against this background, the Dattanagar case has brought the question of the safety of minors into discussion once again. It is being said that the police, educational institutions and parents need to take steps together to keep school and college students away from drugs.

There is a demand that Gaikwad's allegations be investigated thoroughly and that, if narcotics are found to be sold in the area, strict action be taken against those responsible. Local residents are watching what stand the police will take, whether the alleged drug network will be investigated, and what steps will be taken to rehabilitate minors caught in addiction. There is also hope that local representatives and leaders of the ruling party will attend to this serious issue and take the necessary steps.
