The hearing in the sexual harassment case involving former Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) president and former Bharatiya Janata Party MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh has been pushed back once again. The court deferred Friday's hearing, and the matter will now be heard on October 28.
The Rouse Avenue Court in Delhi has given the main accused, Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, and co-accused Vinod Tomar time to file their official reply to the petition filed by the women wrestlers. The next hearing in the case will be on October 28, 2026.
The women wrestlers have made serious allegations of sexual harassment against Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh and are continuing their legal fight. The court gave the accused an opportunity to respond, and so the day's hearing was put off.
Singh was reportedly present in the court complex during the hearing. The women wrestlers have filed a revision petition against his discharge, and it is on this petition that the hearing is due on October 28.
At the hearing on September 28, the Rouse Avenue Court had admitted the women wrestlers' petition. The court had then issued notice to Singh and Tomar and directed them to file their replies.
The case began in 2023, when several leading women wrestlers, including international medallists, made grave allegations of sexual harassment against Singh and took to the streets in protest. The legal battle is counted among the biggest controversies in Indian sport.
