BYD has introduced a special edition for buyers planning to purchase an electric SUV. The BYD Sealion 7 Festive Edition has been launched in India at an ex-showroom price of Rs 50.60 lakh. Only 150 units of this special edition will be sold. The model will be available only in the Premium variant, and its biggest change is in the interior colours.

The Festive Edition's cabin gets a dual-tone tan and black colour combination, which gives the interior of the SUV a distinct, premium look. There is no change to the exterior design or other major features of the vehicle. The edition is therefore set apart mainly by its new cabin look and limited availability.

On battery and performance, the electric SUV is fitted with an 82.56 kWh Blade battery. The rear-mounted electric motor produces 230 kW, or 308 hp, of power and 380 Nm of torque. The SUV can accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in just 6.7 seconds. According to the company's claim, its range on a single charge is up to 567 km. This range is as per the NEDC testing cycle. In real-world use, the range can vary with driving style, speed and weather.

BYD has given the model cell-to-body (CTB) technology, in which the battery pack is integrated into the vehicle's structure. This improves body strength and the use of space for the battery. The SUV also has a torque adaptation control system, which manages torque according to traction.

Features on the Sealion 7 include a 15.6-inch rotating touchscreen, quilted Nappa leather seats, a panoramic glass roof with an electric sunshade, and a head-up display. For safety, 11 airbags are provided. The SUV has received a 5-star safety rating from Euro NCAP.

The vehicle is 4,830 mm long, 1,925 mm wide and 1,620 mm tall, with a wheelbase of 2,930 mm. The rear boot can carry 500 litres of luggage, which increases to 1,789 litres when the rear seats are folded. The front trunk (frunk) offers an additional 58 litres of storage.

The BYD Sealion 7 arrived in India in 2025. According to the company, more than 4,500 units of the model have been sold across the country. It remains to be seen how customers respond to the Festive Edition, limited to 150 units and with a new interior.
