Students of Nevjabai Hitkarini Kanya Vidyalaya in Brahmapuri have once again brought honour to the school and the entire Nagpur division at the state level. The state-level school handball tournament was held at Maharashtra Vidyalaya in Kolhapur from October 10 to 12, 2026. The school's under-14 girls' team finished third.

The tournament was organised jointly by the Directorate of Sports and Youth Services, Maharashtra State, Pune, and the Deputy Director, Directorate of Sports and Youth Services, Kolhapur division. Players from six divisions of Maharashtra took part. In keenly contested matches, the school's players performed impressively and secured third place. The players' determination, team coordination and discipline were widely praised.

Two players who made a mark in the tournament, Punam Anand Lanjewar and Sandhya Vishnu Dighore, have been selected directly for the Maharashtra team at the national level. Their selection has raised the standing of Brahmapuri tehsil and the entire Nagpur division, and good wishes are pouring in for both from across the region.

In view of the team's achievement, Ashokji Bhaiya, secretary of the institution, congratulated the national-level players in person on October 15, 2026, and wished them well for the journey ahead. In his guidance, he said students should not limit themselves to studies but prove their talent on the sports field too, and bring glory to the school and the state at the national and international levels. The institution's president, Smt. Snehlatabai Kisanlalji Bhaiya, headmistress Banpurkar, deputy headmaster Nikhare and supervisor Khandate also lauded all the players and patted them on the back.

Experienced mentors played a big part in the success. The students received close guidance from national handball players Surajji Meshram and Shubham Jangle, and sports trainers Bharti and Barekar. The school's success also came through the constant encouragement and support of all its teachers, non-teaching staff and parents. The girls' win has created an atmosphere of excitement and joy in Brahmapuri's sporting circles.
