Four accused in Himachal murder detained in Jalgaon while trying to sell mobile phones

Shanipeth police detained four Bihar men wanted in a Himachal Pradesh murder after they got off a train in Jalgaon to sell phones for cash.

Four absconding accused in a murder case from Himachal Pradesh ended their journey in Jalgaon. Himachal police had passed their location to Jalgaon police, after which Shanipeth police launched a search and detained all four.

According to Himachal police, the case relates to the murder of Mukesh Kumar. It was registered on September 30, 2026 under FIR No. 82/2026. On the basis of preliminary information, Himachal police said Mukesh Kumar and the accused were drinking together when a quarrel broke out over abuse involving a sister. Police say the accused then attacked and killed Mukesh Kumar. This is the information given by police so far.

Police said the accused left Kisanpur at about 11 am after the incident. They reached Ambala and took the Mumbai Express at 4.30 pm towards Mumbai. On the way, they ran out of money even for food and drink. They got off at Jalgaon to sell their mobile phones to raise money. Meanwhile, police got their location.

Himachal Pradesh police informed Dr Vishal Jaiswal, police inspector in charge of Shanipeth police station, that the accused were in the Shanipeth area. He immediately instructed the crime detection squad and had the search started. The team tracked the accused's movements and detained all four.

The four detained are said to be from Bihar. Chandan Kumar and Roshan Gogal Mukhiya are said to be from Kutubpur, Sakra police station, Muzaffarpur district. Santosh Kumar is from Bariyarpur, Muzaffarpur district. Ajit Kumar Joga Mahto is a resident of Pandarak, Patna district, Bihar.

Investigating officers from Himachal Pradesh have left for Jalgaon to take the four into custody. Further legal action will follow only after the accused are handed over to Himachal police.

The team in the operation included police head constables Vijay Khaire, Yogesh Jadhav and Anil Salunkhe. Police constables Nilesh Ghuge, Navjeet Chaudhari, Amol Vanjari, Parag Dusane and Ravindra Sable were also with them.
