Police took 91 actions under the Motor Vehicles Act in a special drive at Arvi in Wardha district, part of the Mission Zero Accident campaign.

A special traffic drive was held at Arvi on 5 November 2026 as part of the "Mission Zero Accident, Wardha District Abhiyan" being run in Wardha district. Roads get more crowded during Diwali, so citizens and motorists were asked to follow traffic rules to avoid accidents.

The drive was held on the orders and under the guidance of Superintendent of Police Saurabh Kumar Agrawal and Additional Superintendent of Police Sadashiv Waghmare. Dr Vandana Karkhele, Sub-Divisional Police Officer, Arvi sub-division, Police Inspector Satish Dehankar, in charge of Arvi police station, and their personnel took part. Assistant Police Inspector Vijaykumar Ghule, in charge of the Wardha district traffic control branch, and his personnel were also present.

Motorists were made aware during the drive. They were told to keep their vehicles in good condition, wear helmets and seat belts, observe speed limits, avoid using mobile phones while driving and avoid drinking. They were also told to keep vehicle documents up to date and not to let minors drive.

Citizens were urged not to park vehicles on public roads or in no-parking areas. They were also asked to give way to ambulances and emergency vehicles and to maintain traffic discipline.

The drive is not limited to penal action. Its aim is to curb violations, prevent accidents and bring discipline to traffic for the safety of citizens.

A total of 91 actions were taken during the drive under the Motor Vehicles Act against motorists violating traffic rules. Action against violators will continue as per rules. On behalf of the traffic branch, citizens were urged to follow traffic rules voluntarily and cooperate in keeping traffic safe and smooth. The message "Follow traffic rules, avoid accidents and travel safely" was also given.

The aim of the action is not to levy fines but to instil discipline in motorists and make travel safe for all citizens. Citizens' safety is being given top priority. The main aim of the Zero Accident Mission Wardha District Abhiyan is to protect children from accidents caused by unlicensed driving and the harm this does to their futures, and to protect citizens' lives.

The campaign will now be run effectively across the district. The Wardha district traffic police department is appealing to all citizens of the district to follow traffic rules while driving.
