Arvi traffic drive: 237 challans, Rs 3,45,500 in fines for rule violations

Police in Arvi, Wardha district, booked 237 drivers under the Motor Vehicles Act as part of the Jeevan Suraksha Abhiyan, collecting fines of Rs 3,45,500.

As part of the Jeevan Suraksha Abhiyan being run in Wardha district, action was taken in Arvi town on 02/10/2026 against drivers who violated traffic rules, under the Motor Vehicles Act. The campaign is under way in the district on the orders and guidance of Superintendent of Police Saurabh Kumar Agrawal and Additional Superintendent of Police Sadashiv Waghmare.

Arvi police station in-charge Satish Dehankar and Vijaykumar Ghule, in-charge officer of the Traffic Control Branch, Wardha, took part in the Arvi drive. They were accompanied by Sub-Inspector Lagad, constables, and officers, constables and traffic constables of Arvi police station.

The aim of the action is to keep traffic in the town smooth, protect the safety of drivers and pedestrians, and prevent accidents. Action was taken against vehicles parked in a way that obstructed traffic. Those caught also included people driving without a licence, riding three on a two-wheeler, vehicles with loud silencers, drivers not carrying their licence, and vehicles with fancy number plates.

A total of 237 challan cases were registered against drivers who broke traffic rules. Fines totalling Rs 3,45,500 were imposed.

After the action, Arvi police station and the District Traffic Control Branch, Wardha, urged Arvi residents to follow certain points in particular. Vehicles should not be parked on traffic routes. Unauthorised parking should not be done in public places, on roads or in crowded areas, and vehicles should be parked only in designated parking spaces. Vehicles should not be handed to minors, and no one should drive without a licence.

Two-wheeler riders on highways should wear helmets, and four-wheeler drivers should wear seat belts. People were also told not to ride three on a two-wheeler and not to drive vehicles with loud silencers.

Police have made clear that the action is not meant to collect fines but to instil discipline among drivers and make everyone's journey safe. Citizens' safety is being given first priority. The main aim of the Jeevan Suraksha Abhiyan is to protect children from accidents caused by driving without a licence and from the harm this does to their future, and to keep people's lives safe.

The campaign will continue to be run effectively across the district. The Wardha district traffic police department has appealed to all residents of the district to follow traffic rules while driving.
