Aide of 'Nagpur ka Bhai' gunman Mrinal Gajbhiye held in Jatarodi firing case

Nagpur: Imamwada police have arrested Nikhil Sawadia, an associate of Sitabuldi's notorious criminal Mrinal Gajbhiye, who fired a pistol in the air while shouting "I am Nagpur's bhai". A pistol has also been recovered from Nikhil, a resident of Patwardhan Maidan, Tekdi Marg. Mrinal is absconding, so the truth behind the incident has not yet come to light.

The firing took place on the night of October 4 at Jatarodi, under the Imamwada police station limits. Amey Dhurve was sitting with his friends near the Shitlamata temple in Jatarodi when Mrinal arrived there in a car with his associate Takku. He began abusing Amey and his friends. During the ensuing argument, Mrinal fired a pistol while shouting "I am Nagpur's bhai". The incident spread panic in the locality.

Despite such a serious incident, the police did not register a case. On learning of it, the crime branch swung into action on October 8 and detained some suspects. Imamwada police then registered a case.

Imamwada police learnt that Nikhil Sawadia, who was involved in the incident, had been spotted on the Hudkeshwar Outer Ring Road. The police swooped in and caught him. Nikhil is also a professional criminal.

It is said that Mrinal and his associates had more than two pistols with them at the time. Mrinal had come to Jatarodi on the pretext of meeting a childhood friend, to carry out a major crime. Mrinal has been involved in firing cases earlier as well, and action under MCOCA and MPDA has also been taken against him. That he was still moving around the city with a pistol is extremely serious.
