Residents of a Mohammadwadi housing society have had no electricity since Wednesday 9 pm and say repeated MSEDCL assurances have not been kept.
Residents of the Raheja Sterling housing society in Mohammadwadi have been without electricity since 9 pm on Wednesday. They are angry over the repeated delays in restoring supply, which has also raised questions about the working of the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL). The report is from Mohammadwadi and is dated October 30, 2026.
Residents said they contacted the MSEDCL helpline and the officials concerned repeatedly. Each time they were told power would return within two hours. These assurances continued until about 2 am. Residents were then told that electricity would be restored the next day.
Uncertainty continued on Thursday as well. At about 5 pm, officials at an MSEDCL substation reportedly told residents that power would return by midnight. Since several earlier deadlines have not been met, residents fear this promise will not be kept either. They said that if that happens, the outage could stretch beyond 24 hours.
Raj Singh, a resident of the society, said: "Residents have been without electricity since 9 pm. Despite contacting MSEDCL officials and the helpline repeatedly, we have got nothing but assurances. Each time we are told power will come back within two hours, but the deadlines keep changing. There is no proper communication, no accountability. Residents are suffering and the administration must act urgently."
Ashok Mehende also expressed concern over the prolonged outage and the lack of communication from officials. He said: "It is deeply disappointing that residents of a housing society have to struggle for basic electricity for so long. Despite repeated complaints, MSEDCL officials have not been able to give a clear reason or a definite time for power to return. We demand that the officials concerned take responsibility and put a permanent solution in place so that such a long outage does not happen again."
Residents also alleged that helpline representatives do not respond. They said the helpline staff give no clear information on why the power went out, nor any reliable information on when it will return.
Residents asked why such a breakdown occurs despite advances in infrastructure and technology. They said even a high-end residential society is being kept in the dark for hours without proper information from the officials concerned.
Residents have demanded that MSEDCL intervene urgently, that the officials responsible accept accountability, and that a definite time for restoring supply be announced.
