The United Chamber of Commerce and Industries for Agriculture has taken a significant step to promote entrepreneurship and give new businesspeople the right platform. The organisation has appointed Praveen Dabhade president of its Mumbai chapter.
The appointment was announced at a recent meeting at Savitribai Phule Pune University. Dabhade was handed the responsibility by the organisation's president, Chandrakant Dada Jagtap.
Dignitaries from industry, trade, agriculture and various professions, entrepreneurs and office-bearers of the organisation were present at the meeting. After his appointment, Dabhade thanked Jagtap, the board of directors and all the dignitaries present. He said the organisation had shown trust in him and that he would do his best to justify it.
New entrepreneurs will receive guidance. The main aim of the Mumbai chapter will be to bring entrepreneurs, traders, professionals and new businesspeople of a city as economically important as Mumbai onto one platform. Young people who want to start something new, and small and medium entrepreneurs who want to expand their businesses, will be given the necessary guidance, training and support.
Guidance will be offered on what is needed from starting a business to expanding it, namely skills, market knowledge, business management and financial planning. Training workshops, entrepreneurship development programmes and business networking events will be held for this.
Entrepreneurs will be linked to banks and government schemes. So that new entrepreneurs can overcome financial difficulties, efforts will be made to connect them with financial assistance available from banks, financial institutions and government schemes. Emphasis will also be placed on improving coordination between entrepreneurs in industry and agriculture, finding markets for local products and creating jobs.
Special efforts will be made for women and young entrepreneurs. Special initiatives will be run to bring women and young entrepreneurs into the mainstream of business. Through skill development, professional training and mutual cooperation, the chapter will try to build a strong business environment. Dabhade said Mumbai's entrepreneurs should not be given just a platform, and that the emphasis would be on direct support and new opportunities for their business growth.
