Police seized gold, silver jewellery, phones and CCTV footage in the engineer's suicide case, and the court extended the custody of three accused by two days.

In the suicide case of engineer Payal Jhambre, police have seized 35 tola of gold, silver jewellery, the mobile phones of her husband Akshay and father-in-law Arvind, Payal's own mobile phone and CCTV footage from the accused's home. The allegation is that the married woman was physically and mentally harassed for dowry and abetted to suicide. New information is surfacing in the case almost every day.

The police custody of the husband, Akshay Arvind Jhambre (35), the father-in-law, Arvind Vasantrao Jhambre (68), and the mother-in-law, Mangal Arvind Jhambre (58), had expired, so the three were produced in court. All three live in Mukundnagar.

During the hearing, the public prosecutor and the lawyer for the complainants asked the court to extend custody. They said the seized phones had to undergo technical analysis and the conversations and messages on them had to be examined. The court accepted the plea and extended the custody of all three accused by two days.

Police have so far recovered 35 tola of gold, but the remaining 15 tola has not been found. Police strongly suspect it is with the absconding Akshata. Akshata Jhambre-Nimhan, Payal's sister-in-law, is an accused in the case. Police are searching for her intensively.

Meanwhile, Akshata, who has been absconding since being named in the case, has filed a plea for anticipatory bail in court. The court has asked the police and the prosecution to respond to the plea. Police are investigating the matter thoroughly.
