Residents of Katraj had to go without water for two days in a row this week. Supply in the area is being shut off in rotation, and on Thursday water supply was also cut across the city. Katraj felt the effect of both together. The information is dated October 23, 2026.

On Thursday, supply from the Vadgaon water centre was shut because a flow meter had to be installed on a pipeline. In areas where supply was already scheduled to be off on Wednesday or Friday, people therefore got no water on two consecutive days.

The residents' troubles were already considerable. Katraj residents, who are facing water cuts under drought-related restrictions, are also contending with the road-widening work under way on Katraj-Kondhwa Road. The additional day of shutdown worsened their difficulties.

The Pune Municipal Corporation's water supply department had earlier clarified that areas dependent on the Vadgaon water centre would have only one fixed shutdown day a week. There had been no plan to keep supply fully shut on Thursday.

Nandkumar Jagtap, head of the water supply department, said stopping supply on Thursday was necessary to install the flow meter. He also said the current rotational schedule would continue, and that from now on water supply will remain on on Thursdays.
