Pune, October 23, 2026: Nationalist Congress Party corporator Rakesh Kamthe has given the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) 48 hours to start regular water supply in Kondhwa Budruk and Yewalewadi. He has also warned that if the problem is not resolved in this period, he will lead residents carrying pots to the civic headquarters in a march.
Residents of the area are currently not getting adequate and regular water. People in Kondhwa Budruk Gaothan, Kapilnagar, Ambedkarnagar, Yewalewadi, Gokulnagar, Laxminagar and Sainagar are facing inadequate and irregular supply. As the taps do not yield enough water, they have to buy water from private tanker operators at higher rates.
In this situation, Kamthe met Nandkishor Jagtap, head of the PMC water supply department, and submitted a memorandum to him. The memorandum demands that the issue be resolved urgently, that regular water be supplied at adequate pressure, and that free water tankers be provided until the situation returns to normal.
Kamthe said, "Water is a basic need, and it is a serious matter that people in my ward have to pay for it. The corporation should start regular supply within 48 hours and provide free tankers until then. If action is not taken in time, we will take residents, pots in hand, and protest at the corporation headquarters."
During the meeting, Jagtap assured Kamthe that the department would take the necessary action. Residents of Kondhwa Budruk and Yewalewadi are now watching whether supply becomes smooth within the 48-hour deadline. Kamthe's warning of going to the headquarters with residents and pots stands if the work is not done in time.
