The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Pune Police has sent a notice to MP Parth Pawar in connection with the Mundhwa land scam. Preparations are now under way to record his statement. The aim is to establish whether he had any role in the disputed deal for 40 acres of land linked to Amadea Enterprises.

Investigating officers are set to question Pawar about his alleged relationship with the company. His interactions with others connected to the case will also figure in the questions, among them Sheetal Tejwani and Digvijay Patil. The questioning will focus on how much he knew about the deal, what his relationship with these people was and what the circumstances were when the land deal was made.

The case concerns the sale of 40 acres in Mundhwa to Amadea Enterprises. The deal came under investigation over alleged irregularities in the transfer of the land and the non-payment of stamp duty of about Rs 21 crore.

According to the investigation, Sheetal Kishanchand Tejwani held power of attorney on behalf of 272 landowners and was the one who got the land sold. Digvijay Amarsingh Patil is a partner in Amadea Enterprises. Investigating officers are examining the relationships among these people and the role each played in the deal.

The alleged evasion of stamp duty of about Rs 21 crore is a key part of the investigation. Officers are looking into what went wrong with government orders and with the registration of the land documents.

Suspended tehsildar Suryakant Yewale is accused of issuing wrong orders connected with the deal. Suspended sub-registrar Ravindra Balkrishna Taru is accused of irregularities in the registration of documents and in stamp duty matters.

Police have already filed a chargesheet against Tejwani and Patil in the case. The investigation is still continuing. Officers are trying to establish the sequence of events, the role of the officials concerned and any involvement of others linked to the deal.

The EOW's move to record Pawar's statement is another step in the investigation of this high-profile land deal. His statement is expected to clarify the circumstances of the deal and help determine how far the people connected with it were involved.
