Mumbai Crime Branch has arrested a 12th accused, identified as Aman, from Rohna village in Sonipat, Haryana, over the firing on actor Tiger Shroff's car.
Mumbai Crime Branch has arrested a 12th accused in the case relating to the firing on actor Tiger Shroff's car. He has been identified as Aman. He was taken into custody on Thursday, October 29, from Rohna village in Haryana's Sonipat district, with the help of local police.
Police officers said the action followed specific information that emerged during the investigation. Aman is suspected of having financial links with another accused, Kunal Jaiminsingh. The gun used in the attack was allegedly supplied by Kunal.
Investigators also suspect that Aman received money in his own bank account from alleged gang operative Anil Pandit, withdrew the amount and gave it to Kunal. It is suspected that the weapon allegedly used in the firing was bought with that money. Police are examining financial transactions to establish Aman's exact role in the case.
With this arrest, the total number of accused held in the case has risen to 12.
The new arrest came a day after the 11 accused arrested earlier were produced before a special court under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA). The court remanded all of them in police custody until November 6.
Investigators are looking into whether an organised crime network was behind the attack, and how the financial transactions, the purchase of the weapon and other help were arranged. Mumbai Police have invoked the provisions of MCOCA against all the accused.
The incident took place at around 7 pm on October 18 in the Juhu area of Mumbai. As Tiger Shroff was leaving a football club, two attackers on a motorcycle allegedly fired at his car.
The actor had a narrow escape, but his driver and a passer-by were hit by bullets. During the investigation, the alleged shooters and several other suspects were arrested from various places, including Kota, Sonipat and Indore.
Police are examining the alleged role of each of those arrested, including their financial transactions, contact records and links to the suspected organised crime network.
According to police, Anil Pandit, an alleged operative of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, is still absconding. He is alleged to have claimed responsibility for the attack on social media. The Crime Branch investigation continues to trace the alleged conspiracy, find where the weapon came from and identify others who helped carry out the attack.
