NCP (SP) chief Sharad Pawar, 85, was discharged on Saturday and went to his home in south Mumbai after three days of treatment.

NCP (SP) president Sharad Pawar was discharged from Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai on Saturday. He had been admitted for a chest and respiratory infection. Pawar, 85, had been undergoing treatment there for the past three days. After his discharge, he went to his home in south Mumbai.

Pawar was first admitted on November 2 to the Ruby Hall Clinic in Pune, with complaints of a cough and pleuritic chest pain. He was discharged from there on November 4 and admitted to the Mumbai hospital the same day.

Dr Pratit Samdani of Breach Candy Hospital said Pawar's condition was stable. According to Dr Samdani, Pawar was admitted on Wednesday night and treated. He was kept under observation as a precaution. His condition remained stable and his discomfort eased, after which the doctors cleared him for discharge.

Several leaders visited Pawar at the hospital during this period. On Friday night, Congress leaders Sushilkumar Shinde and Balasaheb Thorat, along with NCP leader Dilip Walse-Patil, called on the former Union minister at the hospital.

On Friday, Adani Group chairman Gautam Adani also visited Pawar at Breach Candy Hospital in south Mumbai. Pawar's daughter and NCP (SP) MP Supriya Sule also came to see her ailing father the same day. Sule had earlier said that his medical tests were under way and that all his health parameters were stable.

On Thursday, NCP leader Praful Patel also met Pawar at Breach Candy Hospital and enquired after his health. After leaving the hospital, Patel said, "I went to Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai for a courtesy call on respected Shri Sharad Pawar saheb and enquired about his health."

On Wednesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also spoke to Pawar and enquired about his health. Vitthal Maniyar, a family friend and close associate of Pawar, confirmed the phone call while speaking to reporters outside the hospital. Maniyar said Prime Minister Modi told Pawar warmly to put his health above everything else and take complete rest.
