Police and security agencies searched the four sites across Mumbai after the email arrived on Friday, and found no explosives or suspicious objects.

An email threatening several well-known Mumbai locations arrived on Friday, prompting a security alert in the city. The email named the Bombay High Court, the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), actor Amitabh Bachchan's residence Jalsa and the Mahalaxmi Racecourse. Police and security agencies then began precautionary searches across the city.

The email was received by the Bombay High Court administration and spoke of a possible bomb attack on the court premises. It also listed the BSE, the Mahalaxmi Racecourse and Bachchan's Juhu home as other targets.

On receiving the threat, security agencies stepped up vigilance and began searching the places named in the email. With the help of the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) and the police dog squad, teams combed the High Court premises, including its different sections, in detail. No explosives or suspicious objects were found there.

Police teams also visited Jalsa and the Mahalaxmi Racecourse. According to officials, nothing suspicious was found at either place. The BSE was also among the places named in the email.

The threat came while the Bombay High Court is on Diwali vacation. Vacation benches are still hearing cases, and judges, lawyers and court staff continue to move in and out of the premises. For this reason, a security check was necessary despite the holiday.

Police have begun an investigation to identify the sender and trace where the email was sent from. An officer said, "We are going through the electronic trail and other technical information to find out whether this email is linked to earlier threatening messages or is a separate attempt to spread panic."

Among the recent threats in Mumbai is an email of October 23 sent to the office of Mumbai Mayor Ritu Tawde. It allegedly threatened attacks on the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) headquarters, Bachchan's Juhu home and the Mahalaxmi Racecourse. Singer Diljit Dosanjh's concert is scheduled at the Mahalaxmi Racecourse on November 27. That message is also said to have threatened a grenade attack on a school and to have referred to Khalistan.
