The Maharashtra government has raised the number of posts in the MPSC Group C combined preliminary examination 2026 to 16,717, with an official corrigendum issued on the commission's website.
Lakhs of candidates awaiting the Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) "Maharashtra Group C Services Combined Preliminary Examination 2026" have received significant news. The state government has increased the number of posts for the examination to a record level, and it will now be held for 16,717 posts. An official corrigendum has been issued on the commission's website.
The increase in posts rests on two grounds. One is the recommendations of the high-level committee the state government set up to make the recruitment process transparent and secure. The other is that additional requisitions received from various departments have also been added.
BJP MLA Vikram Pachpute reacted to the decision. He said that, on behalf of all MPSC students, he especially thanked Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. According to him, the Chief Minister had given everyone such good news on the occasion of Diwali. Pachpute said the MPSC, the Maharashtra Public Service Commission, had accepted every recommendation made by the V. Radha committee. Under the circular issued today, 16,717 posts will be included in the upcoming Group C examination itself.
Pachpute also recalled that when his delegation met the Chief Minister, it had demanded that the ratio of posts to candidates should be at least 1:100. He said only a few thousand posts are advertised while students taking the examination number in lakhs, so justice must be done to these students. He said it would be very good if the ratio came within 1:100.
Pachpute said that with 16,717 posts the ratio will certainly be at its lowest, and many students will benefit. He said that, in view of the process left pending in the intervening period, a demand had also been made for some relaxation by raising the age limit by at least one year. That demand has also been accepted. The examination will also be held offline.
Pachpute once again thanked "Devabhau" specially. In his words, it used to be seen earlier that farmers' concerns were heard and the concerns of mothers and sisters also received justice. Now, through Devabhau, justice has been given to the concerns of the youth too, and there is no harm in saying so. He also said that there was now assurance that the Public Service Commission would certainly accept whatever recommendations the V. Radha committee makes.
