Central Railway will run a mega block on the Main, Harbour and Trans-Harbour lines on Sunday, 8 November, the first day of Diwali, with delays and cancellations.

Commuters planning to travel by Mumbai local trains on Sunday, 8 November, should check the timetable before leaving home. Central Railway will run a mega block on its Main and Harbour lines that day. As the block falls on the first day of Diwali, Mumbai commuters may face inconvenience.

Track repair and maintenance work will be carried out during the block. Several local trains may run late, while some services will be cancelled outright.

On the Main line, a block will be taken on the up and down slow lines between Matunga and Mulund from 11.05 am to 3.55 pm. During this time, down slow locals leaving CSMT between 10.14 am and 3.32 pm will run on the fast line between Matunga and Mulund. They will stop at Sion, Kurla, Ghatkopar, Vikhroli, Bhandup and Mulund stations and then return to the slow line. Passengers may reach their destinations about 15 minutes late.

In the opposite direction, up slow locals towards Mumbai will also be diverted. Leaving Thane between 11.07 am and 3.51 pm, these trains will run on the up fast line between Mulund and Matunga. They will stop at Bhandup, Vikhroli, Ghatkopar, Kurla and Sion stations and move back to the slow line at Matunga.

On the Harbour line, a mega block will be in force in both up and down directions between Panvel and Vashi stations from 11.05 am to 4.05 pm. Up local services from Panvel towards CSMT between 10.33 am and 3.49 pm will be cancelled. Similarly, down local services from CSMT towards Belapur and Panvel will remain suspended between 9.45 am and 3.12 pm.

A mega block is also in place on the Trans-Harbour line, and some local services will be cancelled. Up trains between Panvel and Thane scheduled between 11.02 am and 3.53 pm will not run. Down trains between Thane and Panvel scheduled between 10.01 am and 3.20 pm will also not run.

Local travel on all three routes, Main, Harbour and Trans-Harbour, will thus be affected on Sunday. Those who have to travel during these hours should check train timings for their station beforehand to avoid waiting on the platform.
