As part of Vigilance Awareness Week 2026, the Navi Mumbai unit of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) held awareness programmes on Wednesday at the Konkan Bhavan complex in Belapur and at government offices in Uran. The aim was to explain corruption to people, the laws that apply to corrupt practices, and how to complain about alleged misconduct by government officials or employees.
ACB officers visited several offices at Konkan Bhavan in Belapur, including the District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission, the office of the Deputy Registrar of Cooperative Societies, the State Tax department, the Sub-Divisional Officer (Land Acquisition) and the Urban Administration department of the Konkan division. Visitors to these offices were told why it is important to end corruption.
To carry the message to people in nearby areas, the campaign also went to the office of the Additional Commissioner of the Konkan division and the office of the Assistant Commissioner of Police (Traffic) in Navi Mumbai.
In Uran, programmes were held at the Uran Municipal Council, the tehsil office and the office of the Block Development Officer. A meeting was also held at the Uran Panchayat Samiti, attended by police patils, gram sevaks and revenue department staff, who were briefed on anti-corruption laws.
Street plays on corruption-related issues were also staged at Vashi and Nerul railway stations as part of the campaign. The performance took place in the presence of Additional Superintendent of Police Bhagwat Sonawane. Students of Karmaveer Bhaurao Patil College, Vashi, performed the plays to raise awareness among the public. Police personnel and staff also took part.
The ACB has appealed to people to file complaints against government officials or employees accused of corruption. In Navi Mumbai, complaints can be made on the ACB's toll-free number 1064, telephone number 022-27833344 or WhatsApp number 7066635666.
Complaints can also be filed through the ACB Maharashtra website, acbmaharashtra.gov.in, or its online complaint portal, acbmaharashtra.net.
The campaign is part of Vigilance Awareness Week 2026, which aims to increase public participation in efforts to curb corruption.
