Engineering and maintenance work will hit suburban services on two lines, and a night block will affect two express trains.
Central Railway will take a mega block on the Mumbai suburban network on Sunday, November 1. The block is for engineering and maintenance work and will affect services on the Main Line and the Trans-Harbour Line.
On the Main Line, the block will be on the UP and DOWN slow lines between Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) and Vidyavihar. On the Trans-Harbour Line, the block will be taken on both the UP and DOWN lines between Thane and Vashi/Nerul.
On the Main Line, the block on the UP and DOWN slow lines between CSMT and Vidyavihar will be in force from 10.55 am to 3.55 pm.
During this period, DOWN slow line locals leaving CSMT between 10.48 am and 3.45 pm will run on the DOWN fast line between CSMT and Vidyavihar. These trains will stop at Byculla, Parel, Dadar, Matunga, Sion and Kurla. They will then be taken back to the DOWN slow line at Vidyavihar.
The same arrangement will apply in the opposite direction. UP slow line locals leaving Ghatkopar between 10.19 am and 3.52 pm will run on the UP fast line between Vidyavihar and CSMT. These trains will stop at Kurla, Sion, Matunga, Dadar, Parel and Byculla.
On the Trans-Harbour Line, the block on the UP and DOWN lines between Thane and Vashi/Nerul will be from 11.10 am to 4.10 pm. Trans-Harbour services between Thane and Vashi/Nerul/Panvel will remain suspended during this time.
DOWN Trans-Harbour locals from Thane to Vashi, Nerul and Panvel between 10.35 am and 4.07 pm will be cancelled. Similarly, UP Trans-Harbour locals from Panvel, Nerul and Vashi to Thane between 10.25 am and 4.09 pm will also be cancelled.
Central Railway said Harbour Line services between CSMT and Goregaon and between CSMT and Panvel, as well as Port Line services between Nerul/Belapur and Uran, will run according to the usual Sunday timetable. Passengers have been asked to plan their journeys accordingly.
Central Railway will also take a special traffic and power block on the night between Saturday and Sunday, October 31 and November 1. It is for installing girders of a new foot overbridge (FOB) at the Kalyan end of Diva station.
The work will be done with the help of a road crane on the fifth and sixth lines between Mumbra and Dativli stations, from 1.10 am to 4.25 am on November 1.
In a press release issued on Friday, Central Railway said the block will affect two express trains. The 11099 LTT-Madgaon Express, which starts from Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (LTT) on November 1, will leave at 4 am instead of its scheduled 12.45 am. The 12134 Mangaluru-CSMT Express will be held at Nilje station from 3.34 am to 4.25 am. Central Railway has urged passengers to note these changes and plan their journeys accordingly.
