The proposed train may leave in the first week of November 2026, though the launch date and final timetable are yet to be confirmed.
The proposed Vande Bharat sleeper train between Bengaluru and Mumbai is likely to be flagged off in November. The route will have 10 stations. The service will link passengers in Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra.
According to railway sources, the train could be started in the first week of November 2026. However, the official launch date and the final timetable have not yet been confirmed.
The train will run from Sir M. Visvesvaraya Terminal, Bengaluru (SMVT) and end at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) in Mumbai. The stops listed are SMVT Bengaluru, Anantapur, Guntakal, Raichur, Yadgir, Kalaburagi, Solapur, Pune, Kalyan and CSMT Mumbai.
With Anantapur and Guntakal included, passengers in Andhra Pradesh are expected to get another long-distance overnight rail service. The train will also connect important places in Karnataka and Maharashtra.
Sources said the train will leave Bengaluru at about 8 pm and reach Mumbai at around 12 noon the next day. According to information in the document, passengers could save more than five hours compared with existing trains on this route.
The proposal is for the train to run six days a week in both directions. It has been stated that no train will leave Bengaluru on Monday or Mumbai on Tuesday. These timings and other details have not been finalised and await official approval from Indian Railways.
The Vande Bharat sleeper is designed to make long-distance overnight travel comfortable. It is expected to have comfortable sleeper berths, mobile charging points, separate space for luggage, automatic doors and facilities for passengers with reduced mobility.
The train will also have an emergency button and a talkback system, allowing passengers to speak to train staff when needed. The details of the proposed train also mention a bottle holder.
The service will be another rail connection for those travelling between Mumbai, Kalyan, Pune and Solapur. Students, working people, traders and families travelling among the three states could benefit.
The route will also bring historic and religious sites closer, such as the Siddheshwar temple in Solapur, Shaniwar Wada in Pune and Haji Malang near Kalyan. In Mumbai are the Gateway of India, the Haji Ali Dargah and CSMT, which is on the UNESCO list.
