Western Railway will block the fast lines between Borivali and Bhayandar from 11.30 pm on October 31 to 4.30 am on November 1, cancelling some suburban services.

Western Railway said on Friday that it will take a jumbo block on the fast lines between Borivali and Bhayandar stations for maintenance work. The block will be in force on the intervening night of Saturday, October 31, and Sunday, November 1.

According to a statement issued by Chief Public Relations Officer Vineet Abhishek, the block will be on both the up and down fast lines. It will run from 11.30 pm on October 31 to 4.30 am on November 1.

During the block, all fast-line trains between Virar/Vasai Road and Borivali will be run on the slow lines. Western Railway has also said that some up and down suburban services will be cancelled because of the block. The list of cancelled services will be available at the station master offices at all stations on the suburban section.

There will be no block on the suburban section during the day on Sunday, November 1. Passengers have been asked to plan their travel keeping these changes in mind.

In a separate statement, Western Railway said the south staircase of the second north foot overbridge connecting platforms 2 and 3 at Mira Road station has been closed to passengers with immediate effect. The reason is that improvement work is under way at the station.

According to the railway's official statement, the work at Mira Road station is being carried out by the Mumbai Railway Vikas Corporation (MRVC). As part of the work, MRVC will demolish the south staircase of the foot overbridge, which is why it had to be closed to passengers. Western Railway has informed passengers and expressed regret for the inconvenience caused by the work. Those travelling from Mira Road station have been advised to take note of the closure and move within the station accordingly.

Central Railway will also take a special traffic and power block on the intervening night of Saturday, October 31, and Sunday, November 1. The block is for launching girders of a foot overbridge (FOB) at the Kalyan end of Diva station. Officials said the work will be done with a road crane and will require a block on the 5th and 6th lines between Mumbra and Dativali.
