A case of alleged theft involving a woman at the DLF mall in the upscale Sector 18 area of Noida, Uttar Pradesh, has come to light. A video of about 30 seconds is spreading rapidly on social media and is trending widely.
In the video, the woman is seen walking out of a section of the mall, covering her face. Two women security staff are holding her by the hand and appear to be taking her out of the mall.
According to mall employees, the woman took tins of ghee and oil from the store without paying several times over the past month. Staff had suspected her for some time. They then went through CCTV footage, which revealed the alleged thefts, and the staff caught her red-handed.
One employee said this was not the first time she had stolen; it was the fourth. After she was caught, the tin of oil and ghee was seized from her. A person accompanying her was also reprimanded over the matter.
It has been reported that the price of the ghee and oil was recovered from the woman and the matter was settled by mutual agreement. It is not yet clear whether any legal action was taken against her.
Going by her clothes, the woman appears to be from a well-off family. Although the theft was a small one, many people were shocked to see it. She does not look to be in financial difficulty. Even so, it is alleged that she stole oil and ghee from the mall to save a small sum of money.
