While buying an electric scooter, buyers look at price, range and features, but the monthly EMI they will have to pay is an equally important question. On that count, a comparison of the VLF Strada and the Ather Konark could help customers. The two scooters differ in starting price, and the monthly EMI also changes with the variant.

First, the VLF Strada. It is a premium electric scooter from Kolhapur-based Motohouse, and its design shows an Italian-style influence. The scooter comes in two variants, City and Max. The ex-showroom price of the City variant is Rs 1,19,999, while the Max variant costs Rs 1,55,500. According to the calculation given, the EMI could be Rs 5,510 a month for the City model and Rs 7,140 a month for the Max model.

Bookings for the scooter are open online. Deliveries are planned to begin from November 2026. Those planning to buy should therefore ask the dealer about the delivery date and the scooter's availability in their city.

Now the Ather Konark. Its S 2.1 kWh variant has an ex-showroom price of Rs 1,01,999 and an estimated monthly EMI of Rs 4,683. The S 3.5 kWh variant is priced at Rs 1,44,049 and could require an instalment of Rs 6,614 a month. According to the figures given, the EMI of both Konark variants is lower than that of the corresponding VLF Strada variant.

It is also worth understanding how the EMI was worked out. For the comparison, the full ex-showroom price of both scooters was treated as the loan. An interest rate of 9.5% and a repayment period of 24 months were assumed. On this basis, the EMI of the VLF Strada is put at Rs 5,510 to Rs 7,140 and that of the Ather Konark at Rs 4,683 to Rs 6,614.

However, the actual EMI can change with the down payment, the loan amount, the bank's interest rate, loan approval and dealer offers. Insurance, registration and other charges can also push up the on-road cost. It would therefore be advisable to check the on-road price of both scooters and the loan terms before taking a final decision.
