A video widely shared online allegedly shows women stealing a box of gold pendants from a bullion trader's shop in Burhanpur, Madhya Pradesh; police action is not known.

A video of a jewellery shop is going viral on social media. It is said to be from the Sarafa Bazaar in Burhanpur, Madhya Pradesh, and the shop is said to belong to gold trader Laxman Jugal Agrawal.

The video shows a few women sitting in the shop with a child. They are said to have come on the pretext of buying gold. The video clearly shows a box containing 280 grams of gold jewellery disappearing at that moment. Two boys were also with them.

A post shared on social media says the women stole a box of gold pendants, weighing about 280 grams, from Agrawal's shop at Fawara Chowk. According to the post, two boys were with them, one on a motorcycle and the other on foot.

A woman in a pink dress can be seen in the video. Two women are said to have come to the trader's shop to buy a ring. The trader turned around to take out goods from the shop. The allegation is that at that moment the woman in the pink dress picked up the gold. The whole incident was captured on CCTV, and the footage is also being discussed on social media.

Along with the video, it is also being claimed that a new trend has emerged in bullion markets, in which women and small children are used to distract traders and steal gold. The incident is thus described not as a lone theft but as part of a method said to be in use in markets.

There has been no official confirmation so far from the city where the incident took place. No information has been given about any police action in the theft case. It is also unclear whether anyone has been caught. All details of the incident are based on posts and videos shared on social media, and the allegations made remain only allegations. Shopkeepers have also been advised to be careful.
