The Ranji Trophy 2026-27 match between Bihar and Madhya Pradesh began today at Holkar Stadium. The whole of the first day belonged to Madhya Pradesh spin all-rounder Saransh Jain, who broke the back of Bihar's batting with 7 wickets.

Bihar captain Sakibul Gani won the toss and chose to bat first. The decision proved costly. The entire side was dismissed for just 99, failing to reach 100 in the first innings. It is the fourth time in the Ranji Trophy that Bihar have failed to reach 100.

All teams are playing their third match of the season. Bihar made a poor start in this match too. Avesh Khan dismissed Naman Gaurav and Shraman Nigrodh in the very first over. Saransh Jain then removed Ayush Lohrukha for 18.

Bihar's fourth wicket fell at 37, when Saransh sent back captain Gani. Soon after, Jain dismissed Akash Raj without him scoring. Half of Bihar's batters had gone back with the score at 37.

Saransh then took the wicket of Raghuvendra Pratap Singh to complete his fourth. Wickets continued to fall. He took his fifth by dismissing Aditya Raj. No Bihar batter could last against Saransh's spin, and the whole side was all out for 99.

Saransh took 7 wickets for 40 runs in 13 overs. It is his best performance in first-class cricket so far. With it he also completed 200 wickets, his 200th being Aditya Raj.
